Right to Information Act, 2005

The constitution of India established India as a Democratic Republic and democracy requires an informed citizenry and transparency of information which are vital to its functioning and also to contain corruption and to hold Governments and their instrumentalities accountable to the governed. Hence, the Parliament of India enacted the Right to Information Act 2005 to empowered the Indian citizen the secure right to access information under the control of public authorities, in order to promote transparency and accountability in the working of every public authority, including Government Women’s College, Balangir.

RTI: Procedure for obtaining Information

In terms of sub-section (1) of Section 6, a person, who desires to obtain information admissible under the Act, should make a written request in Form- A to the Public Information Officer (PIO), Government Women’s College, Balangir, accompanied by a Bank Draft / IPO of Rs.10/- (Rupees ten only) in the favour of Public Information Officer (PIO), Government Women’s College, Balangir payable at Balangir or enclose the copy of receipt for Rs.10/- (Rupees Ten only), by depositing the same towards the application fee, specifying the particulars of the information sought by him or her. Further, for providing the information under sub-section (1) of section 7, the fee as applicable will be charged.
